When schools are on holiday it is estimated that ‘rush hour’ car traffic is reduced by about 20% – equivalent to all drivers leaving their cars at home one day a week.
Most schools in Edinburgh are involved in developing School Travel Plans. These encourage walking and cycling and try to discourage parents from driving their children to school – or at least parking responsibly!
As part of European Mobility Week 2008 Edinburgh schools are again invited to take part in a poster competition.
